Sorrento and Amalfi CoastSelf Drive

From your starting point in Italy, pick up your car at the rental depot and start your trip towards Sorrento. On the way you will stop in the ancient city of Pompeii.
The city was buried under a thick layer of ash and pumice after the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., a disaster that nevertheless preserved the contents of Pompeii with fascinating precision. Entrance fees to the archaeological site are included and a private guide will be arranged to give you a tour of the ruins. You will then continue on to the charming coastal town of Sorrento.

Today we suggest an excursion to the Isle of Capri.
Reach the Sorrento Port, land take the convenient ferry to Capri.
The isle of Capri is a famous playground for the rich and famous, but it is also well-known for its natural beauty.
In addition to the Blue Grotto, a famous cave, there are numerous small bays and inlets where the jewel-like water beckons you to swim. Go down to Capri town which is very chic with shops, hotels and restaurants along winding streets. Visit the Piazza Umberto, the main square which has a pretty white church and several open-air cafes where you can sit and watch the world drift by. At the end of the day when you want to go back to the Hotel, take the ferry back to Sorrento.
Today you will have the opportunity to attend a Cooking Class in a local farm in the Sorrento Countryside. After breakfast drive to the farm location not far from the centre of Sorrento.
On arrival you will be welcomed in the courtyard of the farm, where the staff will give you a short historical explanation on all their activities.
You will receive information on the olive oil production process comparing the old method with the new one. Visit to the modern oil mill along the beaten track. Then in the wine cellar it will be possible to see the barrels and the wine press used for wine making. Later the cooking course will start. You will be supplied with chef-hats and cooking aprons and you will be assisted by the local staff.
When the food is ready, before starting the lunch or dinner, a jury will taste the dishes and will judge them. At the end of the day you will receive a diploma with the farm logo, your name, the dish cooked and the merited mark. The cooking course will also include the preparation of limoncello liqueur and lemon marmalade

Today set off on one of the most exciting and beautiful drives in Italy.
The "Amalfi Drive" is said to be the most spectacular road in Europe and from Sorrento, the winding cliff top road offers breathtaking panoramic views at every bend. Each spot is a world of its own, a fantastic world which dazzles the imagination and inspires unforgettable impressions.
You will make stops in the delightful towns nestled in its bays: Positano, an elegant and colorful town with a history of attracting celebrities and artists; Amalfi, a picturesque seaside resort that is also the largest town on the coast; and Ravello, the highest town on the coast where the photo opportunities are unmatchable. A lunch in a local restaurant will be arranged for you.
This morning, check out from your hotel in Sorrento and return your car at the car rental depot. You can decide to end your tour here or continue with another of our self drive itineraries or add some nights in Rome or in another city
