Palermo and Monreale
You will be met at the Palermo port for your private shore excursion to Palermo and Monreale. The city tour of Palermo will unfold the cities past as a Phoenicain stronghold and Roman trading centre. You will notice the traces of Roman, Arab and Norman monuments. You will visit the Cathedral built in 1185. It became a mosque during the Muslim rule and later re-consecrated to Christianity. The chapel holds the remains of St. Rosalia.You will then continue to the hilltop town of Monreale just a few miles outside of Palermo. Here you will visit the exquisite Norman Cathedral with its 6340 square meters of mosaic that covers its interior.
