General information on the port of Civitavecchia and Its connections with Rome
The port of Civitavecchia is located approximately 70 kilometers from the city of Rome, despite its distance can be considered as the port of the capital and because of the great traffic of passengers and goods, and numerous links to the major ports of the Mediterranean Sea.
The traffic of the port in terms of cruise passengers is estimated in 2,600,000 passengers a year. The highest of the Mediterranean Sea.
The fastest way to get to Rome from Civitavecchia is the private taxi or in the case of groups a private bus , the Highway A12 connect the port to the citycenter in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Civitavecchia port is also connected to Rome by train. There are regional trains approximately every 30 minutes from 5am to 10pm. The journey time is approximately one hour and half. The train station is at 500 meters from the exit of the port and it is connected by a free bus service from 5:30 am to 11:00 pm. The bus offer also transportation for special need travelers. Unfortunately, both shuttle bus and trains to Rome can not be booked in advance.
