| Since opening and closing times vary according to place and season, it is better to obtain information about hours of operation as soon as you arrive in town. Some of Italy's most famous museums remain open daily until 10 pm. There are a galaxy of museums that can be visited daily without worrying about early closing times. Among the 16 that enjoy this new status are the Uffizi, the Galleria dell'Accademia and the Palazzo Pitti with the Galleria Palatina, all in Florence; the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Venice; Palazzo e Pinacoteca Brera and Santa Maria delle Grazie (da Vinci's Last Supper) in Milan; the Egyptian Museum (Palazzo dell'Accademia delle Scienze) in Turin; in Naples, Palazzo Capodimonte with Pinacoteca, the Archeological Museum and the Royal Palace. In Rome, extended hours apply at the Villa Borghese, the Castel Sant'Angelo on the Tevere (Tiber), Palazzo Altemps and the Museum of Modern Art. |
