Imperial Tramontano has a lengthy history as a private hotel and mansion which has welcomes many famous writers, artists, and poets. These include Goethe, Byron, Scott, Keats and Shelley.  Rumour has it Milton visited the hotel as well.

Famous Italian poet Torquato Tasso was born in the west wing and the song Return to Sorrento was composed by De Curtis at the very same hotel.

Situated high on the cliffs guests are in for a treat with splendid views of Mount Vesuvius and overlooking the Bay of Naples. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from Sorrentos main square which features several restaurants, bars, and boutiques as well as just being a 10 minute walk from the Marina Grand Harbor which is home to many fish restaurants.
