A great group tour from Rome to the ancient archeological site of Pompeii and its nemesis the still active, Mount Vesuvius.
Arrive in Pompeii where a local expert guide will guide you through an hour and a half tour of this wonderfully preserved Roman Town. Buried under the ashes of Mount Vesuvius when it erupted in 79AD, Pompeii is a journey back in time. You will see the plaster casts of the citizens buried at the time of the eruption. You will see a town with homes, shops, Roman baths, You will see the evidence of carriage wheels from 200o years ago etched on the streets.
Pompeii is very large but with your expert guide you will make most of the time there following a well designed route. Your group will be no larger than 25 people and you will have a headset so you can follow the guide’s explanations with no problem. The local guides are chosen for their knowledge and friendly personalities.
After the visit you will depart Pompeii and make your up Mount Vesuvius to the ridge of the crater. This still active volcano potentially threatens up to 3,000.000 people who live around the base and area. From the crater you will have an astounding view of the Bay of Naples and all the area around.
If you are visiting during the winder months, it will not be possible to visit Mount Vesuvius. In its place you will visit the National Archeological Museum in Naples. The museum houses and amazing collection of artifacts.
After you visits you will enjoy a lunch in a typical Neapolitan pizzeria before returning to Rome.
