DAY 1 — Arrival
Upon your arrival at the airport you will be greeted by our representative and you will be driven by a private car from Turin APT to your accomodation in Pollenzo. After check-in at your hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to relax.
DAY 2 — Alba, Barolo and Barbaresco
Today we will visit the town of Alba in the Langhe and explore the most famous wine region home of the Barbaresco and Barolo wine.Your day will begin Alba wher you will meet your local guide. The homeland of white truffles, chocolate and sought-after wines. Once called the “One Hundred Towers Town”, famous for the International White Truffle Fair which occurs each year in October. Short walking tour of Alba.Continue to Barolo, the town where the “king of wines” was first produced in the XIX century. Visit of the historic cellars of a renowned Barolo producer, and learn the techniques employed in the production of this refined garnet red-coloured wine. Wine-tasting of Barolo or Barbaresco wines will follow the visit. In the afternoon transfer to the Barbaresco area, north-east of Alba, and first stop in the village of Barbaresco itself with the imposing squared tower built in the late XI century to protect the village from foreign invaders. Continue to Grinzane Cavour where you will visit the impressive XIII century castle which also hosts the Cavour Regional Enoteca and an ethnographic museum.At the end of the tour return to your accommodation.
DAY 3 — Asti and Monferrato
After breakfast, our driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you on a full day tour to Asti and the Monferrato region.Your day will begin in Asti where together with your local guide you will discover medieval towers, churches, baroque buildings and old squares during your walking tour. Visit the collegiate church of San Secondo or the gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria; have a walk along Corso Alfieri, the main street, where you may also stop and visit the Crypt of Sant’Anastasio (collection of some Roman ruins, an VIII-X century graveyard area, Romanesque capitels, etc.). On Wednesdays and Saturdays you can enjoy the lively weekly market. Lunch at leisure in Asti. In the afteronn you will continue to a the town of Canelli where you will have the oportunity to visit one of his wienry and taste one of the famous wines of the region.Continue your tour to Acqui Terme famous and popular for the beneficial properties of its springs from the time of the Romans who regarded its waters as amongst the best in the whole Empire. To see: Piazza del Duomo, Acqui Terme Cathedral with its triptych of the Madonna di Monserrat, and the cloisters of the Rectory with its Roman remains. From Via Domenico Barone one comes to the Paleogi Castle, now the Civic Archeological Museum. In the courtyard, visitors can enjoy the “Bird Garden”, a botanical garden with a wealth of aromatic plants. Walking along Via Giuseppe Sarocco one reaches a small piazza and the Bollente an octagonal marble tabernacle dating back to the 1800s, from the base of which warm water springs . The Bollente is the symbol of Acqui Terme. Return to your hotel at the end of the day.
DAY 4 — Departure
This morning after check out meet your driver for your transfer to Turin rail station/APT to catch your departing train /Flight.
