Arezzo & Cortona (via Val di Chiana)
Departure with driver/guide for a full-day
Discover the Val di Chiana countryside
Time for walking Arezzo and Cortona
Your day starts with a drive along the old Roman way known as the Seven Bridges Road, a pleasant trip among terraced olive groves and vineyards with a beautiful view over the Arno Valley.
Along the way, you make a short stop to see the Roman Bridge, where it's known that Leonardo da Vinci made his studies on canal transportation and then immortalized the area by using it as a background for the Mona Lisa.
You then arrive in Arezzo, a town that was heavily bombed during the second world war, but has preserved its historical center and priceless art treasures.
Arezzo is also the first town in Europe for the working of gold.
You then pass through the Chiana Valley, famous for its vivid green in spring and gold in the summer.
Then, on a hill in the distance, you'll see a never ending spiral of terraced olive groves, and as your eyes seek where the deep green orchards lead, the bright stone of Cortona appears shining in the sunlight.
