Day 6: Florence - Rome

 

trainAfter check-out from your hotel, you will be picked up by our English speaking assistant and driver.  You will be transferred to the Florence Rail Station where you our assistant will show you to your train. 

You will have first class rail tickets on the confortable Euro Star train to Rome.   The journey will take one hour and a half.

Upon arrival at Rome Termini Station you will be met by our local assistant and driver who will transfer you to your hotel.  Balance of day is at leisure.

Day 7: Ancient Rome Tour

Ancient Rome

Morning at leisure.

2:15pm - 2:45pm The tour bus will pick you up at your hotel for your Ancient Rome tour.

You will be taken to Piazza Venezia , where you will see the imposing memorial to Victor Emanuel II, the first King of United Italy. The tour will then proceed tot h e Roman Forum , the old centre of the Imperial City , where the Senate House,

the basilicas and the temples of the major gods are located.

After walking down the Via Sacra and passing by the Arch of Titus , you will visit the Coliseum , surrounded by impressive monuments such as the ruins of the Arch of Constantine the Great .

The last stop on your tour will be the 5th-century Christian Basilica of St. Peter's in Chains , where you will see the world famous Statue of Moses by Michelangelo.

 

Day 8: Pompeii

Pompeii06:30am - 07:00am You will be picked up from your hotel for your excursin to Pompeii.

After leaving Rome the tour will proceed to Naples . On the bus you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
You will than reach the excavations of Pompeii , the Roman city totally destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. by ashes, gas and hot clouds claiming numerous lives, but at the same time preserved the existing environment and a way of life typical of ancient Roman society at its height. The layer of ashes preserved people and every day items, food and domestic animals, intact. All remained hidden until the first half of the 18 th century, when archaeological digs were organised.
You will stop for a lunch at a typical restaurant located in Pompeii.The archaeological site offers a vivid and remarkably well preserved picture of life in ancient times. The Basilica, the Forum, the Thermal Baths, the Fauno's house, The Bakery are just a few examples of the sights to be seen in Pompeii, a magical place that evokes the dramatic atmosphere of a wonderful civilisation.

At the end of the visit, return journey to Rome . Arrival at hotels or near by around 8.30 p.m. As the visit to the excavations lasts approximately 2 and half hours, you are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes.

 

Day 9: Rome - Vatican Tour

Vatican Museum

07:45am - 08:15am The tour bus will meet you at your hotel to transfer you to the Vatican City, the smallest independent sovereign state in the world. In the Vatican Museum , you will be shown a fine collection of antiques. The visit includes:

• The Sculpture Museum
• The fascinating Tapestry Gallery
• The Gallery of Maps
• The world famous Sistine Chapel , decorated by Michelangelo.

The tour will then proceed to St. Peter's Basilica , where you will view the art treasures of the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world, including Michelangelo's Pietà .

Day 10: Departure from Italy

After check-out from the hotel, your local driver and assistant will pick you up for your private transfer to the Rome Airport to catch your departing flight.
