Day 1: Rome

Rome Upon your arrival at the Rome Airport, our local English-speaking representative will be waiting to greet and escort you, by private car and driver, to your hotel in the city.

The balance of this first day is at your leisure. Relax after your trip, or begin a tour in Rome or Vatican city.

Day 2: Rome - Vatican Tour

Basilica of St.Peter

The tour bus will meet you at your hotel this morning to transfer you to the Vatican City, the smallest independent sovereign state in the world. In the Vatican Museum, you will be shown a fine collection of antiques. The visit includes:

• The Sculpture Museum
• The fascinating Tapestry Gallery
• The Gallery of Maps
• The world famous Sistine Chapel , decorated by Michelangelo.

The tour will then proceed to St. Peter's Basilica, where you will view the art treasures of the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world, including Michelangelo's Pietà.

Day 3: Pompeii

Pompeii ruins In the morning you will leave Rome along the Autostrada del Sole southwards. Halfway to Naples, the Abbey of Montecassino, completely rebuilt after the total destruction in the Second World War, can be seen high up on the hill to your left. Then on into the fertile countryside surrounding Naples . After a short time sightseeing, on the way to Pompeii stop for a visit to an ancient cameos and coral factory in Torre del Greco . Then on to Pompeii for lunch at a restaurant and a visit of the excavations. 19 Centuries ago during the summer of 79 A.D., Vesuvius suddenly re-erupted completely destroying Pompeii and Herculaneum. Its ashes, gases, and hot clouds claimed numerous lives but at the same time preserved the existing environment and a way of life typical of the ancient Roman society at its height. The layer of ashes preserved intact people and everyday items, food and domestic animals, all remained steady and hidden until the first half of 18th Century when regular digs were organized. At the end of the visit continue to Rome with arrival at the hotels or nearest point at about 8.30 pm .

Day 4: Ancient Rome Tour

This Colosseummorning is at your leisure.

In the afternoon the tour bus will pick you up at your hotel for your Ancient Rome tour.

You will be taken to Piazza Venezia , where you will see the imposing memorial to Victor Emanuel II, the first King of United Italy. The tour will then proceed to t h e Roman Forum, the old centre of the Imperial City, the Senate House, the Basilicas and the temples of the major Gods are located.

After walking down the Via Sacra and passing by the Arch of Titus , you will visit the Coliseum , surrounded by impressive monuments such as the ruins of the Arch of Constantine the Great .

The last stop on your tour will be the 5th-century Christian Basilica of St. Peter's in Chains , where you will see the world famous Statue of Moses by Michelangelo.

Day 5: Rome to Florence

 

trainAfter check-out from your hotel, you will be picked up by our English-speaking assistant and driver.  You will be transferred to the Rome Termini Rail Station where you our assistant will show you to your train. 

You will have first class rail tickets on the comfortable Euro Star train to Florence.   The journey will take an hour and a half.

Upon arrival at the Florence Rail Station you will be met by our local assistant and driver who will transfer you to your hotel.  Balance of day is at your leisure.
